Dolphins Down Cape Fear on the Road. Boykin's 24 Points Leads the Way

The Brunswick CC Dolphins Men's Basketball team defeated Cape Fear CC tonight in Wilmington 92-80. The Dolphins were led in scoring by Tyre Boykin with 24 points, which included six three point baskets in the second half, Kevon Vanderhorst with 18, Cam Oates 15 and Jaleb Grant with 14. The Dolphins conference record now goes to 6-1 with five of those wins being on the road. Seven of the last nine games are at home for the Dolphins. This game was unique as both teams warmed up wearing wearing white and read shooter shirts with the Young Hearted Brand logo on the front. The Young Hearted Brand is owned by Brunswick CC /Delaware State University graduate Mike Coger and was started when his Brother the late Tyrek Coger a former Cape Fear graduate and basketball player died as a result of a heart related issue while training as a student-athlete at Oklahoma State University in 2016. It's purpose is to bring awareness to heart realated issues of the youth especially athletes. With February being American Heart Month this game was picked to not only honor Tyrek's legacy but spread information about what the Young Hearted Brand is doing. Mike addressed the audience prior to the game.
