Dolphin Softball splits with Fayetteville Tech

Game 1: Dolphins Lose to the Trojans with a Late Run (4 - 3 L)

 

Wednesday's game against Fayetteville Tech Community College was a competitive fight for the Dolphins, as they lost the lead late in a 4-3 defeat. The game was tied at three with Fayetteville Tech Community College batting in the bottom of the sixth, when Brianna Brewer doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

 

The Dolphins started a string of hits in the game, putting up the first two runs of the contest. Victoria Howard hit a triple to center field that allowed Annalise Rodriguez to score her on a single. Emma Roberts hit a grounder to the pitcher allowing Rodriguez to score.

 

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Fayetteville Tech Community College tied things up at three when Kaitlyn Locklear singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

 

Zoie Hamilton took the loss for the Dolphins. The lefthander allowed ten hits and four runs, over five innings, striking out one. The Dolphins racked up 11 hits on the day. Roberts, Hamilton, and Madison Strichek each managed multiple hits for the Dolphins.

 

 

 

Game 2: Dolphins Shutdown the Trojans (8 - 2 W)

 

The Dolphins won big over Fayetteville Tech Community College. The Dolphins got things started in the first inning with a single and a stolen base by Emma Roberts. The Dolphins scored one run when Zoie Hamilton tripled down the right field line. The Fins scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning with a pair of doubles (Zoie Hamilton, Kaylin Mills), a walk, and a homerun by Victoria Howard.

 

Savannah Birdsong got the win for Dolphins. Birdsong went seven innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits, striking out 11 and walking none.

 

The Dolphins tallied 12 hits in the game. Zoie Hamilton, Lainie Reaves, and Annalise Rodriguez all had multiple hits for the Dolphins. Hamilton went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Dolphins in hits. The Dolphins tore up the base paths with 11 stolen bases. Mills led the way on the base path with 3 stolen bases.
